			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Picnic Pops is Saturday, May 21, 2011. Students and parents from Skyline, Huron and Pioneer bands are asked to work 3 one-hour shifts from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Set-up (8:00-10:00) is mainly reserved for Huron students who have their prom that night, and the take-down (6:00-7:30?) is usually handled by Pioneer families and any people hanging around who want to help. When you come to work at Picnic Pops, please sign in at the Volunteer/Info tent. We need to keep track of who shows up that day to work so that we can report to the directors. </p>
<p>Picnic Pops volunteer sign-up instructions: </p>
<ol>
<li>Go to <a href="http://mysignup.com" target="blank">mysignup.com</a> and set up an account on the left side of the page. You will need to enter your email   address and a password if you want to be able to change it later. (If it doesn&#8217;t  work when you click on &#8220;register&#8221; try &#8220;log-in.&#8221;)</li>
<li>Confirm your password from your email and go to home page again. (You may not have to do this step.)</li>
<li>Go to <a href="http://mysignup.com/robinlhot@earthlink.net" target="blank">mysignup.com/robinlhot@earthlink.net</a>. (If you are already on the site, click on &#8220;search for sign-up&#8221; at the  top.)</li>
<li>Enter my email address (&#8221;robinlhot@earthlink.net&#8221;). Hit &#8220;Submit&#8221; then click on &#8220;2011picnicpops.&#8221;</li>
<li>Check the performance schedule.</li>
<li>Find a time that does not conflict with your performance or warm-up, scroll down to the booth where you want  to work and click on &#8220;needed.&#8221;</li>
<li>Follow the prompts to enter the information that we need.</li>
<li>If you have to make a change, return to the site, search for the sign-up as  above and click undo under your  name. This is when you will need your  password.</li>
</ol>
<p>Thank you for volunteering at Picnic Pops! We know that you have been asked to do a lot for this event, but with everyone helping out, we can have a fun day of great music for our community! </p>

<p>The Paul Keller Orchestra welcomes Ann Arbor Pioneer High School Jazz Big Band to the Keystone on May 24th as participants in the 2010 PKO Jazz Student Outreach Program. The PKO will play from 8:15 PM till 9:15. Then, the <strong>Pioneer HS Jazz Band will play a 30 minute set from 9:30 PM till 10:00. Members of the Pioneer High School Big Band will be invited to join the PKO for the last set from 10:00 till 11:00 PM.</strong> This event will be rewarding and memorable for the student musicians, the pros and audience members alike. The PHS Jazz Big Band is directed by David Leach.  </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Pioneer High School Concert Band, under the direction of David A. Leach, won two top awards at the Festivals of Music/Music in the Parks national competition at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio on Saturday, May 15, 2010. The 72 members of the Pioneer Concert Band competed with ensembles from throughout northeastern United States. All of the ensembles were assessed using a set of national criteria and were rated by a panel of two nationally recognized adjudicators. </p>
<p>The Pioneer Concert Band received a <strong>Superior</strong> rating and earned <strong>First Place</strong> in the <strong>AA High School Concert Band category</strong>, the festival&#8217;s highest band classification.</p>
<p>Additionally the Pioneer Concert Band was awarded the <strong>Overall High School Concert Band trophy</strong> based on earning the highest number of points of all of the competing instrumental ensembles. </p>
